Working for Safer Skies and Better Lives

Airport service workers are coming together across California to win better wages, healthcare, training and respect.

SEIU Airport Workers United represents more than 4,000 workers serving airline travelers in California's major airports including Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Oakland International Airport (OAK), San Jose International Airport (SJC), John Wayne Airport Orange County (SNA), Burbank Bob Hope Airport (BUR), Sacramento International Airport (SAC) and San Diego International Airport (SAN).

Passenger service workers, security officers, sky caps, baggage handlers, cabin cleaners, janitors, ramp and ground crew - all the subcontracted service workers in airports - are now coming together in SEIU to improve quality jobs and quality services in California's airports. Taken together we are the eyes and ears of security and the hands and hearts of quality services at the airport.

Because of the problem of low-bid contracting - airport service workers are stuck in a cycle of inadequate training and equipment, low wages and benefits and high turnover that effects airport security and airline customer satisfaction.

Working together with disability rights advocates, community leaders and airport directors, we're asking the airlines to take responsibility for the security and quality of services in California's airports.
